# Kent M1 Installation — Order of Work and Pre-Checks

> Five-step order of work, unboxing checklist, packing list, tools, handling rules, and storage conditions before a Kent M1 goes live.

This page is your hub for a Kent M1 installation: the order of work, what is in the box, and the rules that apply before the first hole is drilled. Complete every step in sequence — cutting corners here costs time on the commissioning visit.

<Warning>
  **For trained and authorised installers only.** Complete the Safety First and Isolation & Shutdown modules before any work begins.
</Warning>

## Order of work

<Steps>
  <Step title="Confirm the site">
    Verify the location against the M1 limits: altitude ≤ 2000 m, correct clearances, no direct sun on the unit, no drip sources above, good ventilation.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mount the unit">
    Fix the backplane and hang the inverter per [Kent M1 Mounting](/m1/mounting).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Earth it — both PE points">
    Complete both protective-earth connections before any other wiring. See [Kent M1 Earthing & RCD](/m1/earthing-and-rcd).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wire all circuits">
    In order: [PV wiring](/m1/pv-wiring) → [Battery wiring](/m1/battery-wiring) → [AC wiring](/m1/ac-wiring) → [CT & meter](/m1/ct-and-meter) → [Comms & datalogger](/m1/comms-and-datalogger) → [GEN port](/m1/gen-port) if used.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Commission">
    Run the [Kent M1 Commissioning](/m1/commissioning) flow and complete the M1 Commissioning Checklist.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Before you start — pre-checks

**Check before signing.** Inspect the packaging for damage and verify the model number against the order before you open anything. If there is a problem: do not unpack — photograph the damage and contact your Kent channel.

### Packing list

Confirm all items are present when you unbox:

### Tools required

Gather everything before you travel to site:

* Impact drill with Φ10 mm class bit and Φ8 mm anchor bit
* Torque screwdriver and socket wrench
* Multimeter
* PV crimping pliers
* Wire strippers
* Spirit level and marker
* PV plug unlocking tool
* PPE: gloves, goggles, dust mask, safety shoes

### Handling

Two people are required to carry and hang the unit (19 kg). Keep the unit level during movement and **never rest it on its connection sockets** — socket damage is not covered under warranty.

## Storage rules before installation

If units are stored before installation:

* Keep the original packaging with desiccant intact.
* Stack per the carton markings only.
* Check stored units monthly; a professional inspection is required before a long-stored unit enters service.

| Condition               | Duration         |
| ----------------------- | ---------------- |
| −20 to 35 °C            | Up to 12 months  |
| Up to 45 °C             | Up to 3 months   |
| Up to 55 °C             | Up to 1 month    |
| Transport: −10 to 40 °C | Per UN3481 rules |

Humidity: 0–100 % non-condensing throughout.

## Common mistakes

* Unpacking a damaged carton instead of photographing and reporting it first.
* Skipping the mounting-plate anchor pull-check because "the wall looked solid."
* Wiring AC before earthing — both PE points come first on this platform.

## When to escalate

Escalate to Kent New Energy service only — through your registered Kent partner channel or the Kent service desk details on your work order. Do not contact any third-party or component-manufacturer support line for a Kent-branded system: tickets outside the Kent channel are not tracked, not covered, and can void warranty handling.
