# Kent M1 Mounting — Wall, Clearances, and Fixing Steps

> Structural wall requirements, minimum clearances on all sides, permitted tilt angles, and the four-step backplane fixing procedure for the Kent M1.

Fixing the Kent M1 to the wall correctly determines whether the unit runs cool, stays accessible for service, and survives the environment. Read the requirements below before you pick up a drill — a wrong hole in the wrong wall means a full remount on a later visit.

<Warning>
  **For trained and authorised installers only.**
</Warning>

## Before you start

* Confirm the site passes location requirements: no direct sun on the unit, no drip sources above, good ventilation, not near flammable or explosive material, not in the path of direct cool air, away from TV antennas and signal cables.
* **Wall:** solid brick, concrete, or equivalent structural strength. Weak surfaces — wooden walls, thick decorative cladding — need additional support or reinforcement before you proceed.
* Check for hidden pipes and cables inside the wall before drilling. Wear a dust mask and goggles.

## Clearances and angle

Adequate clearance is not optional — these gaps are ventilation paths.

| Position      | Minimum clearance |
| ------------- | ----------------- |
| Top of unit   | ≥ 300 mm          |
| Sides of unit | ≥ 300 mm          |
| Below unit    | ≥ 500 mm          |

<Note>
  Mount at eye level so the LCD is readable without a ladder during commissioning and service visits.
</Note>

**Permitted orientation:**

* Vertical ✅
* Tilted back ≤ 15° ✅
* Tilted forward ❌
* Beyond 15° back-tilt ❌
* Horizontal ❌
* Upside down ❌

<Warning>
  **Never tilt the unit forward**, even slightly to "shed water." Only vertical or a maximum 15° back-tilt is permitted. Any other angle voids the installation and risks overheating.
</Warning>

## Mounting steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Mark the holes">
    Hold the backplane level on the wall and mark all anchor positions with a marker. Double-check level before you drill.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Drill the anchors">
    Use a **Φ8 mm** drill bit and drill to a depth of approximately **65 mm** at each marked position. Wear goggles and a dust mask.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fix the backplane">
    Drive the supplied **M6×50 expansion screws** through the backplane into the anchors. Confirm each anchor is fully seated and the plate does not rock.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Hang and secure the inverter">
    Lift the inverter (two people) onto the backplane and secure the **M4×10 screws on both sides** of the bracket at **1.2 N·m**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**Pass check before moving on:** unit is level, anchor pull-check done on each fixing, both side screws torqued to 1.2 N·m, clearances measured and photographed. 📷

## Common mistakes

<Accordion title="Boxing the unit into a niche or cabinet">
  Clearances are ventilation paths — enclosing the unit blocks airflow and causes thermal derating or shutdown. If a cabinet is required for aesthetics, it must have ventilated panels sized to maintain the clearances.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Forward tilt to shed water">
  Only vertical or ≤ 15° back-tilt is allowed. Forward tilt can cause internal component stress and is not permitted under any circumstances.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Anchoring into plaster or a decorative layer">
  Expansion anchors must reach structural masonry or concrete. Plaster, render, and cladding cannot carry the 19 kg unit and its bracket load.

## When to escalate

Escalate to Kent New Energy service only — through your registered Kent partner channel or the Kent service desk details on your work order. Do not contact any third-party or component-manufacturer support line for a Kent-branded system: tickets outside the Kent channel are not tracked, not covered, and can void warranty handling.
