Platform pre-checks
Verify these items before the M1 power-up sequence.- Altitude — confirm the site is at or below 2000 m. Pass: confirmed. Sites above 2000 m are a Kent G3 or Kent-query case; do not commission M1 above this limit.
- Dual PE connected — both the AC-connector system ground and the chassis protective-earth point must be landed; never only one. Seal the chassis terminal with paint after fitting. Pass: both PE points landed and photographed. 📷
- Backup-port PE grounded — the Backup port will not supply loads during a grid failure without a separate PE connection. Pass: PE continuity verified at the Backup port.
- PV within platform limits — string open-circuit voltage ≤ 500 V; difference between the two MPPT inputs < 250 V; one string per MPPT only. Pass: all measured values logged.
Power-up and first configuration
Use the on-device LCD throughout. Do not use a user-level session for installer settings.Power ON in the M1 sequence
AC breaker → inverter PV DC switch → battery breaker → battery switch → battery button. Pass: clean boot, no faults at startup.
Enter first-run settings in order
Time → Meter/CT → Grid standard → Operation mode → Battery type and BMS protocol. Advanced settings require the partner-gated installer password. Pass: each screen confirmed and photographed. 📷
Set grid code
Set the grid code per the Kent parameter sheet for the site’s DISCOM. Never improvise grid protection parameters. Pass: grid code set; code and DISCOM name recorded.
Select Kent Lithium Battery
Set the LV battery-brand protocol family per the Kent battery pages and confirm a live SOC is displayed. Use the exact on-screen label shown on the Kent battery pages; the crossover cable and pairing rules apply. Pass: battery model selected; live SOC visible and updating. 📷
Backup sizing honesty
Check the backup load before signing off. There is no grace margin on this platform.- Backup loads within the per-model continuous rating — maximum continuous backup current is 15 A (3 kW model) / 25 A (5 kW model) / 30 A (6 kW model), corresponding to 3300 / 5500 / 6600 VA. Pass: measured backup load at or below the model figure.
| Model | Max backup current | Continuous backup VA |
|---|---|---|
| Kent M1 3 kW | 15 A | 3300 VA |
| Kent M1 5 kW | 25 A | 5500 VA |
| Kent M1 6 kW | 30 A | 6600 VA |
- Transfer behaviour test — open the grid breaker with real essential loads connected. Pass: loads ride through the transfer; do not quote a transfer time figure to the customer.
Pending Kent validation. [KNB-VAL-03] The Kent M1 transfer time in milliseconds is under confirmation. Until published here: do not quote a transfer time figure to the customer.
Shutdown drill (before leaving)
Run this before you leave the site. Verify the unit restarts cleanly.- Power OFF in the M1 sequence — battery button OFF (and GEN source off if used) → AC breaker OFF → DC isolator OFF → wait the labelled 5 minutes. Then power back ON in the full M1 sequence. Pass: clean shutdown and clean restart with no fault codes.
Common mistakes
- Connecting only one PE point and skipping the chassis earth — dual PE is mandatory on this platform.
- Promising motor-start headroom on backup without checking the per-model backup current rating.
- Carrying Kent G3 menu habits — passwords, parallel DIP positions, battery menu entries — onto the M1 platform.
