The dangerous differences
These are the values that get mixed up between platforms. Applying the wrong one causes hardware damage, compliance failures, or unsafe operation.| Topic | Kent M1 | Kent G3 |
|---|---|---|
| AC terminal torque | 1.2 N·m — compact connectors | 4–5 N·m — bolted ring-lugs |
| Battery power torque | 4 N·m (16/35 mm² cable) | Wire-box label (M8, 2 AWG ×4) |
| Menu password | Partner-gated M1 value — never the G3 code | Partner-gated G3 value — never the M1 code |
| Mounting angle | Vertical or ≤ 15° back-tilt | Vertical ±5° — stricter tolerance |
| Clearances | ≥ 300 mm sides/top · ≥ 500 mm below | ≥ 300 mm from objects · 700 mm between units · 500 mm front/bottom |
| Parallel DIP | 3-way switch — pins 1 & 3 ON at first and last unit | 2-way switch — both pins ON at first and last unit |
| Parallel limit | Under confirmation — use published examples only | 6 identical units maximum |
| TOU units | 6 slots tiling 24 h — power entered in WATTS | 6+6 windows — current entered in AMPS |
| Generator | Single-phase DG · ≤ 6600 VA / 30 A · any model | Three-phase DG only · ≤ rated power · backup loads only — grid-side loads need an ATS |
| Battery menu entry | Pylon-family entry — use the exact on-screen label from the Kent battery pages | PYLON_LV — never the HV entry |
| Export naming | Solar Sell · Max sell power · Sell offset | Allow Export · Max export power (set to 0 where no feed-in permitted) · Export calibration |
What is the SAME on both platforms
These rules apply identically on every Kent hybrid site regardless of platform:- CT arrow points toward the grid, clamped at the grid connection point. This is the universal Kent rule on both platforms.
- Power sequences: ON is grid AC first; OFF is battery first (exact reverse). The exact steps are on each platform’s commissioning page.
- Battery voltage window 40–60 V DC, BMS over CAN, and the Kent F1 comm cable 4–5 crossover rule.
- CT ratio is read from the shipped CT’s nameplate — never assumed or carried over from another site.
- Datalogger: fit the stick physically and keep the port clean. Activation is with Kent Central Command — documentation to follow.
- Escalation route: Kent New Energy service only — no platform exceptions.
Sizing traps — same principle, different numbers
